Callers’ practice at CMU, Mondays in June

Callers Practice
Mondays in June 7:00-9:00 PM
CMU Skibo Small Gym
5098 Tech Street
Pgh PA 15213
(same place as the CATS Dance)

Ron Buchanan’s Callers workshop on Monday nights at the Wilkins school community center has now concluded.

Thanks to the hard work of all that attended it was quite successful.

Pittsburgh now has a new crop of “Not Quite Ready For The Big-Time Callers”, so the next thing to do is callers’ practice!

All are welcome.

Dancers are welcome. Come on out and help support our new callers. Yes it may be small and move slower than a regular dance, but we have fun.

Callers are welcome. Hopefully in addition to the afore mentioned NQRFTBTC we may be joined by our other area callers who may want to try something new, such as a square. Or something new you may not want to do on Friday night

CMU Campus Contra Dancing in February

For those who don’t know, the Carnegie Alliance of Traditional and Social  (CATS) Dance organization holds monthly contra dances on the Carnegie Mellon University campus.  In February there are 2 dances!  Dancers from the greater Pittsburgh community are welcome at these these dances.

Sunday February 3 is the standard monthly campus contra in Skibo Small Gym – Ron Buchanan is calling to Band du Jour, 5:30-8:30 pm.

Saturday February 23 is a less traditional dance – From DC, Janine Smith and DJ Improper are coming up to run a techno contra! Techno music, black lights, and American folk dance make a compelling crossover.
